Security Guard

Every single time I go to the hospital, I need to cross the initial checkpoint at the entrance of the hospital where two security guards will be stationed. They have a routine; one of them will check the under surface of the car with a mirror and the other would go towards the rear end of the car to check the boot. That’s their job, to ensure there are no mishaps in terms of security.

All the cars will go through that scrutiny, except for those of the doctors, employees and other special guests.

I questioned myself ‘Why are they not stopping me?’ ‘Why aren’t they checking my car?’

TRUST is the answer.

They trust me that I wouldn’t cause any harm to anyone. They trust the doctors and employees of the hospital.

I would be a fool to assume that I’m something special in not being subjected to that scrutiny. I shouldn’t feel entitled in that situation. The least that I could do is to reciprocate by being genuine and upholding that trust they placed in me.

Similarly, in relationships, trust is a very sacred factor. If we take it for granted and feel entitled and don’t reciprocate, the same trust would be covered by rust, and what follows is erosion, and a totally dismantled relationship.

Reciprocate, by living up to the standards and give others a chance to have faith and trust in humanity! It is a choice, which we probably will encounter in many spheres of daily life. Think and act! Don’t coat the trust with rust!
